NEW YORK - One man who lives along the New Jersey coast says he just had power restored a couple of days ago following the outage caused by Hurricane Sandy -- and how, he's lost it again.

A new storm that struck the Northeast yesterday has caused hundreds of thousands of additional outages. It left a blanket of thick, wet snow on trees that were already weakened by the hurricane.

But a lot of people who were hard-hit by Sandy are grateful that the new storm didn't bring a fresh round of devastation. One Staten Island resident says his home "came through the storm just great" -- considering that it didn't have any power.

The storm covered the piles of debris from Sandy with several inches of snow. But it's now started to melt, filling the streets with filthy sludge.

Roads in New Jersey and New York City were clear for the morning commute, and rail lines were running smoothly.

Meanwhile, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo is estimating damage in New York state from Sandy could total $33 billion. A forecasting firm had previously estimated $30 to $50 billion in economic losses from the Carolinas to Maine.
