As Hurricane Sandy moves up the East Coast, the time is now to prepare for the potential impact from the storm.

The enormous wind field around the storm stretches for nearly 500 miles. As the storm makes landfall, Ohio could feel the impact of some of the storm's winds.

There is the potential for power outages and heavy rain.

To prepare you should stock up on items such as:

  • Candles
  • Flashlights
  • Batteries
  • Canned goods
  • Snack foods
  • Bottled water (or other beverages)
  • Personal hygiene items
  • First Aid kit
  • Prescription medicines

It's also recommended that you clear your gutters, fill up your vehicles, charge your phones and other electronic devices and keep cash on hand, just in case.
