AKRON -- An Akron-area pastor says he's been encouraging his congregation to help the hungry by shouting it from the rooftops.

Now he's doing it, literally, for the next six days.

On Sunday, Pastor Robert Moses started a week-long drive to raise awareness about those without food in the community, as well as donations.

While he's camped out on the roof above Eagle Ministries Chapel, church members are collecting non-perishable food items and cash donations below.

Their goal is to collect 2,000 pounds of food for their food pantry ministry. They've already raised more than $2,000 in monetary donations.

The church operates a food pantry on the first and third Thursday of each month.

Donations can be dropped off between 8 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. this week at 830 Rood Dr. You can also contact the church at 330-753-5700.
