CLEVELAND -- Officers responded to W. 3rd Street and Superior Avenue late Friday night after a man was stabbed in the neck.

Police say the man was robbed and then stabbed around 11:30 p.m. near Public Square.

The victim was approached by a man, later identified as Won Banks, 40, who asked for a cigarette. That's when Banks pulled a metal object out and stabbed the victim.

The victim was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center for treatment.

After searching the area, police investigators were able to locate a pair of needle-nose pliers nearby.

The condition of the victim is not known at this time.
