GROTON TOWNSHIP -- A large refrigerated truck carrying a load of produce with pumpkins and squash crashed early Wednesday morning, causing a complete closure of one road in Erie County.
The Sandusky Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol says the vehicle was traveling southbound on Route 4 when it went off the right side of the road around 12:53 a.m. and struck a ditch. The truck then collided with an electrical utility pole before coming to rest on its right side near Strecker Road.
Neither the driver nor passenger on board were hurt in the accident.
The trailer sustained moderate damage.
Authorities say alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
As a result, the road was closed for several hours but has since reopened.
The crash is currently under investigation.
