Hollie's Italian Stuffed Pepper Casserole 


1 pound mild Italian sausage, bulk

5-6 large banana peppers, sliced 

1 jar of your favorite marinara sauce (25 oz)

1 bag shredded Italian blended cheese

( I bought the mozzarella, provolone, Parmesan blend)

1 stick of butter

2 cups coarse Italian style bread crumbs

1 cup chopped fresh basil

In a large skillet, cook sausage on medium heat until cooked through.  Add your peppers and cook til tender.  Turn off the heat.

In a separate skillet, melt butter.  Turn off heat once the butter is melted.  Add bread crumbs and toss, coating thoroughly in the butter.

To assemble!  In a large casserole dish, add your sausage and pepper mixture.  Spread evenly over the bottom of the dish.

Pour the marinara sauce evenly over top, then the shredded cheese.

Finally top with the buttered bread crumbs.

Bake at 350 til cheese melts and the casserole is heated through.  Top with chopped basil!
