ELYRIA -- Two people were slashed with a Samurai sword wielded by a homeless man living in tent behind their apartment building Thursday night.
Police say the incident happened just about 11 p.m. Thursday in an apartment on Chestnut Street, where Chris Metelsky, 23, and Toni Metelsky, 20, were watching TV with a friend.
Police ay the suspect entered the apartment and began arguing with Chris Metelsky over money he was owed.
Toni Metelsky stood up and defended Chris and that's when the homeless man unsheathed a Samurai sword and slashed Toni twice on her left shoulder.
Then Chris tried to disarm him, but suffered a three to four-inch gash on the top of his head, police said. He was also cut on his shoulder blade.
When police arrived at the apartment, they had EMS take Chris and Toni to EMH Regional Medical Center.
While interviewing other witnesses, two residents in the building said the homeless man came to their apartment earlier.
Police found the sheath for the Samurai sword in the tent.
Just after noon Friday, police arrested Michael D. Butler, 30, and charged him with two counts of felonious assault.
