CLEVELAND -- A judge has set bond at $250,000 for a North Ridgeville man arrested with weapons inside a Westlake movie theater.

In court, Scott Smith, 37, acknowledged he understood the 21 charges he faces but said nothing else. He remains in the Cuyahoga County Jail.

He was taken into custody without incident last weekend after he was found with a loaded gun and several knives inside a satchel he was carrying with him.  Smith was inside a theater at Crocker Park for a 10 p.m. showing of the new Batman movie, "The Dark Knight Rises."

Smith's lawyer insists the items were for protection and that Smith never made any threats and has been completely cooperative with authorities.

In setting the bond, the judge also ordered Smith stay away from The Promenade, Crocker Park and the Regal Cinema in Westlake.

Smith faces 19 counts of having weapons under disability for the 9mm he took to the theater and the 18 other guns police say they found in his home.

He also is charged with carrying a concealed weapon.

Smith is scheduled to be back in court on August 14.
