A teenager says she was denied entry to Disney World's Animal Kingdom because of what she was wearing.

April Spielman's fingernails are still sparkling green from her weekend trip to Disney World.

"On Sunday, I woke up at four o'clock just to get ready," she said.

The 15-year-old wanted to make her boyfriend's first visit to the parks special. So she spent months putting together Peter Pan and Tinker Bell outfits.

"My makeup took two hours. My hair took another hour. And then, I had to spray my body in glitter and paint my nails."

The costumed-couple say they had no problems getting into Disney's Hollywood Studios dressed like the characters. But later that day, when Spielman and her boyfriend tried to visit Disney's Animal Kingdom, they were stopped at the front gate because park officials felt she looked too much like Disney's official Tinker Bell theme park character.

"They just said, 'You look too good, so you're going to have to take off the costume.'"

According to Walt Disney World policy, which can be found on the company's Web site, anyone wearing "adult costumes or clothing that can be representative of an actual Disney character" may be denied entry.

Disney does not want children or other park guests confusing their Tinker Bell with an impostor.

"They were talking how the little girls, it ruins their dreams. But it ruined my dream because I just want to be Tinker Bell."

Disney employees gave them free clothes so they could stay.

But Spielman, who began the day looking like Tinker Bell, says she spent the rest of her Disney trip sad.

"It just broke my heart. I really wanted to be them. I didn't want to take off the costume."
