AKRON -- A jury has convicted a Tallmadge man of his 19th DUI offense.

Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh says the jury reached its guilty verdict against George T. Greer, 48, late Wednesday afternoon.

This latest charge is connected to an incident on January 2 where a passerby called 911 after seeing Greer passed out in the driver's seat of a car that had crashed into a pole. The passerby woke Greer and tried to shut off the car which was still in gear.

Greer drove off and into a nearby church parking lot where he got out of the car.  Bevan Walsh says he refused field sobriety tests and a forced blood draw found his blood alcohol content to be .215.

The jury convicted Greer on two counts of operating under the influence, driving under suspension, failure to control and possession of marijuana.

He will be sentenced on May 9 and faces up to 10 years in prison.
