CLEVELAND -- A Cleveland Police officer is recovering after he was thrown from his motorcycle early Friday morning, police said.

The crash happened as the officer was attempting to pull over two drivers suspected of driving while intoxicated at about midnight Thursday near Detroit Road and West 64th Street.

As he was pulling the cars over, the officer was forced to veer away from a parked car. He lost control of the bike and was thrown to the ground, police said.

The two suspect cars sped away.

The officer was not seriously injured. He was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center and is expected to be okay, according to the traffic commissioner.
