SANDUSKY -- A new prehistoric attraction is set to open at Cedar Point next season.
Dinosaurs Alive!, a million-dollar project in the Adventure Island section of the park, will open in 2012.
The attraction features about 50 animatronic dinosaurs that are built life-sized and as realistic as possible.
Four of the dinosaurs will have interactive controllers for visitors to try their hand and making the extinct giants move as they please.
Adventure Island will be located on four acres of the lagoons in the back of the park.
Dinosaurs Alive! will be accessed from a bridge near Camp Snoopy. There will also be palaeontological digs, informative signs and various other educational tools.
With the opening of the new attraction, the old Paddlewheel Excursions boat cruise will be retired. The pioneer-themed boat ride will run until Labor Day this year.
