In 2010, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act was passed. This act requires that almost everyone has health care coverage starting in 2014. If you don't get coverage, you could be fined a penalty up to $695. 

The United States Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit, including Ohio has become the first Federal Appeals Court to uphold the federal health care reform law.
