Road salt leads to new plant life off Ohio highways

There used to be grassy roadsides along Ohio's highways, but those native Ohio plants are now giving way to species that thrive in saltwater environments.

Those salt-loving plants are known as halophytes, or plants that tolerate or demand salinity.
