On Monday, the first three of ten public forums were held so RTA management can explain their plans to make up a $17 million budget gap.

The plan, right now, calls for reducing service by 12 percent and  shutting down or greatly reducing the number of buses and bus routes.

"Reducing the service is only gonna make things worse," passenger Arlene Cornwall told RTA leaders Monday night. "And be sure, things are already bad as it is."

Dwindling state and federal dollars, combined with a drop in sales tax revenue, have lead to these tough times inside the RTA.
