ALLIANCE -- Ohio's gas and oil boom continues and some new information from geologists has put one local county on the map.

In this "Outdoors with Big Daddy,", WKYC Photojournalist Carl Bachtel takes us to Stark County and lets us know just how sweet this sweet spot is.

In baseball, finding the sweet spot is a good thing and in golf, it can get you on the green and even wearing green.

But for Stark County dairyman Bill Ramsey, he hopes his 200 acres near Alliance falls in the sweet spot of shale oil deposits.

Ramsey and others who leased their mineral rights in this shale gas and oil boom are hopeful the latest projections from the Ohio Geological Survey pan out.

It shows Stark County as a prime location for gas and oil in the Utica Shale formation. Ramsey was happy to hear the news.

And if the six wells this drilling pad will contain hit, it could be a life-changer for Ramsey.

Ramsey says he has sons and daughters in his partnership with him on this farm. They milk cows every day. Maybe they won't have to milk so many, instead, allowing them to milk the royalty checks they hope the sweet spot will bring them.

The Utica shale deposit maps aren't set in stone. Geologists are constantly studying core samples and, as more wells are drilled, they will have better information to track the "play."
