JACKSON TOWNSHIP -- A Craigslist deal has authorities investigating after the buyers realized they had purchased stolen property.

It all began Aug. 29 when two people responded to a Craigslist ad and bought a utility trailer for $800. When the purchasers tried to obtain a title for the trailer, authorities say it was identified as stolen from Jackson Township.

The seller, who was identified as 43-year-old Joseph Sparrow, was arrested after authorities searched his residence in Green.

The Summit County Sheriff's Office says investigators recovered two additional trailers, HVAC tools, a firearm and U.S. currency. One of the recovered trailers did not have a VIN number and the other had an obliterated VIN number.

Sparrow was arrested for receiving stolen property and taken to the Summit County Jail.

Further charges are pending as the investigation continues.

Anybody with information is asked to call the Summit County Sheriff's Office at 330-643-8634.
