AKRON -- A quick-thinking gas station clerk foiled a wannabe robber's plans Monday.
Akron Police say it was shortly before 6 p.m. when the suspect entered the BP in the 700 block of Grant Street and demanded money.
The suspect, identified as 37-year-old Troy Stevens, reportedly had his hand under his shirt acting as if he had a gun.
A clerk told Stevens he needed to walk to the back of the store near the coolers to get the money.
He then pushed a panic alarm to notify police.
Stevens fled the scene with nothing.
After a short search, responding officers found Stevens at East South Street and Brown Street.
Officers say they found a crack pipe in his pocket.
Stevens was booked into the Summit County Jail on charges of robbery and possession of drug paraphernalia.
