CLEVELAND -- A former Cleveland Clinic nurse charged with trying to hire an emergency room patient to kill a woman apparently is ready to withdraw his not-guilty plea.

Federal Judge Christopher Boyko in Cleveland has scheduled a change of plea hearing next week for 23-year-old Andrew Martin of Bristolville, near Warren.

There was no immediate comment from his defense attorney or prosecutors.

Authorities say Martin offered $10,000 to an ER patient to kill a woman in a dispute over ownership of her deceased brother's Lakewood house.

The intended victim wasn't harmed.

The woman says Martin and another man not charged in the alleged plot took advantage of her brother. He was suffering from dementia and died in 2010.
