CLEVELAND -- Cleveland police confirmed to Channel 3 that the FBI Task Force is now assisting in the investigation of two women murdered and one assaulted in a one-mile area and developing a profile of the suspect.

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office says both Jazmine Trotter, 20, and Christine Malone, 45, died from blunt head trauma and strangulation.

The two women were killed during the past week and one woman was the victim of an attempted kidnapping about 5:30 a.m. Saturday.

Cleveland police said, "The Federal Bureau of Investigation assists the Cleveland Division of Police in many investigations through the Violent Crimes Response Task Force. It is not unusual that the bureau is assisting at this time. The Federal Bureau of Investigation will assist the Division of Police through assistance provided by the agency's Profilers and Evidence Collection Team; overall the bureau is an additional resource for investigation purposes."

On Monday, police described the suspect as in his 40s, 6'2" tall, thin build, a small gap between upper teeth, and wearing a black, hooded knee-length jacket, dark blue or black Dickies brand pants ripped at the bottom, black steel-toed boots and black winter gloves.

The murders took place near East 93rd Street and Bessemer Avenue.

The attempted kidnapping took place on East 116th Street. The woman got away from her attacker after people drove up in a car and shouted at the man to get away from the woman.

In addition, the Cleveland Division of Police advises that individuals walking alone after dark or before daylight be cognizant of their surroundings, do not be preoccupied or distracted by such things as texting or playing games on cell phones and always notify a friend or family member of their intended destination/whereabouts and call police if you see anything suspicious.
