AKRON -- A 5-year-old girl has been removed from her home after police say they found a working meth lab in one of the bedrooms.

Akron Police say they made the meth lab discovery while following up on a possible drug complaint Monday afternoon at the home in the 2700 block of Paxton Avenue.

Officers arrested Jessica Lawson, 24, and Kory Huffman, 29, and charged both with illegal manufacturing of methamphetamines, illegal assembly of chemicals, possession of methamphetamines and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The child has been placed in the custody of a family member, police say.
