Trio sentenced in first Akron murder in 2012

AKRON -- Judge Alison McCarty handed down stiff sentences for the three people convicted of killing  Philip Michael Anderson, 24, of Akron, on Jan. 10.

Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh said McCarty sentenced Robert Davis, 21, Rahsheem Carr, 21, and Demarcus Williams, 21, all of Akron.

On January 10, Anderson was with two friends in his car on Princeton Street in Akron when they were robbed by two men with guns. During the robbery, Anderson was shot and killed.

Carr was sentenced to 43 years to life for aggravated murder and aggravated robbery; Davis sentenced to 15 years to life for murder; and Williams was sentenced to 10 years for involuntary manslaughter.

On August 20, a jury found Rahsheem Carr guilty with a firearm specification for shooting Anderson. Davis was found guilty for planning the robbery with Williams and Carr and for driving Williams from the scene of the shooting.

On June 11, Williams pleaded guilty.

Williams testified against Carr and Davis at their trial.
