CLEVELAND -- One person died in an overnight shooting where police returned fire on the alleged shooter on Cleveland's east side early Monday morning.
Police were first called to the area of Lee Road and Judson Drive, just south of Harvard Avenue, for a reported fight just before 2:30 a.m.
As police were working to break up the crowd, a man drew a gun and fired into the crowd, striking one man in the chest four times.
The gunshot victim died as EMS rushed him to the hospital. Monday afternoon, the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner identified the victim as Damon Woodard, 21, of Cleveland.
Police ordered the suspect to stop and when he did not, police returned fire. The suspect was not hit by the gunfire.
He ran down Judson, where police arrested him in a nearby yard.
Late Monday, police said they arrested Anthony Conner, 27, of Cleveland.
