CLEVELAND -- The three men who were arrested for the shooting of an off duty police officer have been charged with Felonious Assault and Robbery.
Cleveland Police Officer Dwayne Borders is out of the hospital after he was shot on W. 52nd Street near Detroit Avenue.
The department says Officer Borders, a 17-year veteran, has been placed on administrative leave.
Police said the officer was confronted by three men that attempted to rob him at about 11:30 Thursday night. One of the suspects revealed a gun and the officer and suspect exchanged gunfire.
The officer was shot in the side. The officer attempted to drive himself to the hospital, but was later taken to MetroHealth Medical Center by Cleveland Police.
The officer was treated and released from MetroHealth Medical Center early Friday morning.
Police say Patrick A Minifee was taken in his vehicle to MetroHealth Medical Center with the gunshot wound to the chest. He remains in serious condition and confined to the hospital.
A second suspect Donovan Jones, was found by police at a bus stop at West 25th Street, outside of MetroHealth Medical Center.
A third suspect Devin Collins, was taken into police custody at a house at on East 91st Street. He had a gunshot wound in the leg and was taken to St. Vincent Charity Hospital by Cleveland EMS, police said.
All three suspects are due in court Monday morning.
