CLEVELAND -- Cleveland is in the running to host the 2013 Social Media Tourism Symposium, but to win the bid, they need help from the community.
The symposium, or SoMeT as industry insiders call it, brings more than 200 social media experts together from the travel and tourism industries.
Now in its fourth year, this meeting of the minds allows these experts to share information and ideas and helps put the host city in a national spotlight.
Just as the event itself is all about social media, so is the way that a host city is chosen.
The city with the most votes wins the right to host this year.
Cleveland lost by only a few votes to El Paso, Texas last year. This year, the city and its nonprofit tourism bureau Positively Cleveland, hope to change that.
