SANDY TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- Two Carroll County people were thrown from their car during a rollover crash in Stark County Sunday afternoon.

The crash was reported close to 4:20 p.m. in the area of S.R. 43 (Waynesburg Drive) near mile post 3.

Two women from Malvern were headed north on S.R. 43, when the driver, Penny Cutlip, 31, lost control of her van, went off the right side of the road and struck a pole.

After hitting the pole, the van went through a fence and overturned. Cutlip and her passenger, Shannon Orlander, 24, were both thrown from the vehicle.

Both were taken to Aultman hospital with serious injuries.

It is not clear if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash, but neither was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating.
