AKRON -- Police are asking for the public's help in identifying two suspects believed to be involved in nearly a dozen thefts.

Most recently, Akron Police say the suspects attempted to buy cigarettes with a stolen gift card a Circle K in the 1800 block of Newton Street around 6:24 Tuesday morning. One of the men, according to police, then went behind the counter and grabbed five cartons of cigarettes, pushing the clerk as he fled the scene.

Akron Police say there have been several other similar thefts at local businesses within the last couple of months, all of which involved the suspects trying to purchase a large quantity of cigarettes. As the clerk attempts to ring up the sale, authorities say the suspects grab the smokes and run.

Anybody with information is asked to contact the Akron Police Department's Detective Bureau at 330-375-2490. Anonymous tips can also be left online at http://akronohio.gov/asp/tip.html.
