Akron: Police taser kidnapping suspect

AKRON -- Police taser a man as he threatens to shoot two women before taking their cell phones early Tuesday morning.

About 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, police officers responded to a call of a robbery in the 2100 block of East Market Street.

The suspect, armed with a shotgun, ordered two women out of the house, then he threatened to shoot them before taking their cell phones.

The suspect, identified as Charles Brown, 26, of Springfield Township, then ordered the women to get into a car.

Officers arrived on scene and orderedBrown to drop the shotgun. He dropped the shotgun, however, he refused any other commands by the officers.

After a brief struggle with the officer, the suspect was tasered and taken into custody.

Brown was charged with aggravated robbery, kidnapping, having a weapon under disability, using a weapon while intoxicated, aggravated menacing, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

He was booked into the Summit County Jail. Police said the women are Brown's acquaintances.
