HARRISVILLE TOWNSHIP -- An early morning two-car crash Tuesday has sent the driver of one vehicle to Summa Akron City Hospital.
The Ohio Highway Patrol says that, at 5:53 a.m. Tuesday, a crash occurred on U.S. 224 westbound, at the intersection of Vandermark Road.
Troopers say Shane C. Elswick, 37, of Lodi, was driving a 2000 Toyota Camry northbound on Vandermark Road when he entered the westbound lanes of U.S. 224 when his Camry was struck in the right front by a 2006 Volvo Semi driven by Alfred L Brown, 32, of Spencer.
Elswick was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from his vehicle. He sustained serious head injuries and was flown by University Hospital Med Flight to Summa Akron City Hospital where he is listed in guarded condition.
Brown had no visible injuries and refused treatment at the scene. Alcohol is not a factor.
This crash remains under investigation.
