Akron: Family Dollar, video gamers robbed at gunpoint

AKRON -- Police are investigating a pair of armed robberies that took place Thursday night.

The first incident happened around 9 p.m. when the Family Dollar store in the 900 block of South Arlington Street was robbed by two masked men.

According to Akron Police, the suspects fled the scene with an unreported amount of cash.

The second robbery took place around 9:30 p.m. at a home in the 400 block of Sumner Street as five males were playing video games.

The victims told police that two other males came over to the house, possibly to play video games, when the evening took a violent turn.

Akron Police say that once inside the house, one suspect held the victims at gunpoint as the other male took their property.

The suspects ultimately fled with cell phones, more than $900 cash, a television, laptop computers and wallets.

Two of the victims were reportedly struck in the head by the armed suspect. Despite their visible injuries, the victims refused medical attention.
