CANTON -- Several people were injured, including two police officers after a police cruiser collided with a minivan during a pursuit.
Officers were chasing a suspect south on Clarendon Ave SW around 6:45 p.m. Saturday night. The car was being chased for a traffic violation.
The suspect blew through a stop sign at 17th Street SW. As officers followed through the intersection, they crashed into a minivan headed west on 17th Street SW.
Both officers in the cruiser were injured in the crash. There were also 5 people injured in the minivan, two adults, and three children ages 4, 1, and a 2-week-old.
All were taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries. They have all been released.
The police cruiser did have its lights and sirens on during the chase. Preliminary investigation shows the driver of the minivan didn't have time react to the police car.
Ohio State Highway Patrol will oversee the full investigation of the crash.
