Akron: Weekend shootings under investigation

AKRON -- Police are investigating a pair of shootings that happened during the weekend.

The first occurred around 10 p.m. Friday in the 1100 block of McKinley Avenue. Police say the victim, a 23-year-old man, was standing in a driveway with several other males when he was shot in the leg.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital with injuries that do not appear to be life threatening.

The second shooting happened around 10:30 p.m. Sunday night in the 500 block of Carpenter Street. Akron Police say a 23-year-old man was shot multiple times by an unknown suspect. The victim was taken to a local hospital where he is listed in serious condition.

No description of the suspects in either shooting was available.
