AKRON -- A FirstEnergy employee has been arrested for theft after allegedly stealing copper materials from company yards and job sites.
Akron Police say the worker was observed on numerous occasions since the beginning of the year stealing copper cables and bus bars. The worker then allegedly took the copper materials to local scrap yards for cash, which Akron Police say totaled $28,111.47.
Police say the employee is an electrician who worked with FirstEnergy for almost four years.
The worker from Clinton, Jesse Hensel, 31, turned himself in around 9 a.m. Wednesday.
He has been booked into the Summit County Jail.
