CLEVELAND -- Call it a capital idea....or not.

Ohio's Republican Party is requesting all written and electronic records from Cuyahoga County Ed FitzGerald that do not have his name spelled with a capital "G."

FitzGerald is a stickler to make sure is name is spelled with that letter to make sure his signature is legal and valid.

In October 2011, he issued a memo to his staff, stating he would no longer sign "letters, contracts, documents, etc." where his name is not property spelled with a capital G."

"Ohioans deserve to know if Ed's refusal to sign important state and federal documents interfered with disaster relief aid, critical public safety measures or any other issues," said Republican Party spokesman Matthew Henderson.

The Democratic Party responded with a similar request for documents with John Kasich's signature.

One political observer said, "Let the games begin."
