CLEVELAND -- Wednesday morning, the Ohio Supreme Court was notified that all of the judges in Cleveland Municipal Court have recused themselves from hearing the drunk driving case of Cleveland City Councilman Zack Reed.

The Supreme Court will now appoint a judge to hear the case.

The case had been assigned to Judge Pinkey Carr but she recused herself Tuesday. Cleveland City Council oversees the court's budget and that may give the appearance of impropriety if a Cleveland Municipal Court judge hears the case.

Reed, 51, was stopped just before 2 a.m. March 5 near East Ninth Street and Rockwell Avenue on suspicion of drunken driving.

He has pleaded not guilty.
