CLEVELAND --  Now that the election is over with, people seem to be excited about life without political ads.

Clevelanders seem to have found a remedy to the negativity in the holiday decorations going up in and around downtown.  Don Peterson spent the day constructing a giant Christmas tree in Playhouse Square.

"One guy came by singing 'Jingle Bells,'" said Peterson. He admits the tree is going up earlier than usual but Lorin Belknap says it's what people need.

"Anytime you can get some spirit in the world, it's a great time," said Belknap.

Pamela Di'Pasquale stopped to admire the tree as it went up and even snapped a picture.

"It's nice to see people come together instead of being drawn apart," said Di'Pasquale.

Even though the political ads have stopped, more ads promoting the holiday shopping season will soon fill their place.

The people we spoke to said its still better than the alternative.

"I'd rather see those Christmas ads but I'm also thinking about my kids seeing those ads," said Di'Pasquale.
