PARMA HEIGHTS -- City Council has banned texting or typing on electronic wireless communication devices while driving in Parma Heights.
Electronic devices are defined as as including wireless telephones, text-message devices, personal digital assistants, computers, iPads or any comparable device that is used to communicate text or data.
But that's not all.
Council also banned smoking in certain designated areas of the city's parks and playgrounds.
Council had an existing ordinance but amended that to designate specific non-smoking and "tobacco-free zones."
If you violate the ordinance when asked to stop smoking, you can be fined up to a maximum of $500.
