AKRON -- Bainbridge Township attorney Anthony O. Calabrese III's racketeering and conspiracy trial has been moved to 2013.

During a hearing before U.S. District Judge Sara Lioi Wednesday morning, Lioi denied his motion for a longer continuance but did move the trial back five months.

Federal prosecutors had opposed the continuance.

His trial was originally scheduled to start on Sept. 5 and will now see jury selection starting Feb. 17, 2013.

Calabrese was first charged on Sept. 22, 2011 with bribery, conspiracy and fraud. He was charged again earlier this month in a 20-count superseding federal indictment.

Calabrese, 39, pleaded not guilty last Friday to the new charges, which include racketeering and 19 other charges.

Calabrese is the son of former Judge Anthony O. Calabrese Jr.

Among the charges brought by federal officials include that he paid J. Kevin Kelley, a consultant and long-time friend, to steer Cuyahoga County commissioners to buy the Ameritrust complex in 2005.
