Dimora trial: Jury resumes deliberations

AKRON -- The seven-man, 5-woman jury has resumed deliberations just after 10 a.m. Tuesday in the county corruption trial of Jimmy Dimora and Michael Gabor.

Deliberations began Thursday afternoon and continued all day Friday and Monday.

Jimmy Dimora, 56, of Independence, faces 34 charges, including racketeering, bribery and conspiracy. Gabor, 52, of Parma, faces eight charges, including racketeering and bribery.

Both pleaded not guilty. Dimora is represented by the father-daughter team of Andrea and Bill Whitaker. Gabor is represented by attorney Leif Christman.

U.S. District Court Judge Sara Lioi is presiding over the trial.

The trial began Jan. 4 with a three-day jury selection. Opening statements began Jan 12 and testimony continued for seven weeks.

The Cuyahoga County corruption probe went public on July 28, 2008 when 200 FBI and IRS agents raided county offices, homes of elected officials and businesses.
