AKRON -- Federal prosecutors said Wednesday afternoon that a Twinsburg woman slept with then-Cuyahoga County Commissioner Jimmy Dimora and asked him to help her get a new job.
Jurors had a chance to hear dozens and dozens of calls between Dimora and Gina Meuti-Coppers, the daughter of former Bedford Heights Police Chief Dominic Meuti.
Dominic Meuti, who died on Dec. 28, 2006 at age 76, was chief during the time Dimora was mayor of Bedford Heights.
Gina Meuti-Coppers and her family are longtime friends of Dimora, according to Dimora.
In those 2008 calls from March through July, Meuti-Coppers, then 38, made arrangements with Dimora to meet him for drinks and dinner at Shula's 2 Steak House and then have a sexual tryst with him twice, both times at the Holiday Inn on Rockside Road in Independence.
Shula's 2 is in the Doubltree Hotel on Rockside Road, across the street from the Holiday Inn.
The dates of the trysts were March 15, 2008, and June 2, 2008. It was right after the first tryst that Meuti-Coppers sent her resume to Dimora for him to pass on to Bedford Court.
In the calls, she said she was willing to work part-time for local government or at Bedford Municipal Court.
Other calls jurors heard were between Dimora and Bedford Municipal Court Clerk Tom Day.
In her calls to Dimora, she said she was willing to work part-time for the summer, but eventually would want full-time.
She eventually was hired as a part-time deputy clerk on July 15, 2008 by the court at a salary of $24,000.
She is still employed at the court but is now a full-time deputy clerk and making $40,000 annually, according to court records.
