Bainbridge man sentenced in Cuyahoga County corruption case

AKRON -- A U.S, District Court judge here sentenced Todd Ozanich, 49, of Bainbridge, the owner of Solon-based Imperial Heating and Cooling, to eight months of home confinement for bribing then-Maple Heights city schools Treasurer Christopher Krause and then-Maple Heights schools employee Steve Canepa.

Prosecutors said the bribes were in exchange for business from the school district.

Ozanich pleaded guilty in 2010 to providng a $1,200 furnace for Krause's garage in 2005 and performing $1,200 in related work on the garage in 2007.

Ozanich also admitted then to providing $2,450 in heating and air-conditioning in 2007 to Canepa's home.

He had been charged with three counts of bribery concerning programs receiving federal funds.
