CLEVELAND - A co-defendant in a wide-ranging Cuyahoga County corruption probe has asked for a three-month trial delay.

The request was filed Monday in Akron federal court by Michael Gabor, a co-defendant of former Cuyahoga County Commissioner Jimmy Dimora.

Dimora and his co-defendants have pleaded not guilty and their trial on racketeering, bribery and other charges is scheduled for Sept. 12 in Akron.

The attorney for former Cuyahoga County auditor's office employee Michael Gabor wants more time to review 1,600 hours of wiretaps and prepare for recently added charges.

Spokesman Mike Tobin with the U.S. attorney's office in Cleveland said there was no immediate comment on the trial delay request.

Prosecutors oppose a continuance and U.S. District Court Judge Sara Lioi will have a private teleconference Wednesday with attorneys to discuss the matter.
