CLEVELAND -- Cuyahoga County Executive Ed FitzGerald has hired Douglas Dillon, a licensed surveyor and engineer, to replace former county Engineer Robert Klaiber Jr.

Dillon was the roadway services manager for the Ohio Department of Transportation's New Philadelphia district.

Dillon began work March 21 for Public Works Director Bonnie Teeuwen. He will make $107,000 annually.

The County Engineers Association of Ohio had protested Teeuwen's appointment because she is not a licensed surveyor, required by state law for county engineers.
