CUYAHOGA COUNTY -- County Executive Ed FitzGerald has named Majeed G. Makhlouf as Cuyahoga County's first law director.
Makhlouf is a partner in the local office of the regional firm Taft Stettinius and Hollister LLP.
He has previously advised the cities of Independence, Beachwood, Strongsville, Euclid, Wooster and Bay Village. He has also worked with CMHA and Cleveland, Cincinnati, Mayfield and Nordonia School Districts.
"Majeed will be a tremendous asset to our new county government, " said FitzGerald. "His experience in public and municipal law as well as background in business law will prove invaluable to our new county government."
FitzGerald's first choice for law director was deemed to lack necessary legal qualifications.
FitzGerald and Prosecutor Bill Mason have not resolved a disagreement about the law director's powers versus the prosecutor's office role.
