AKRON -- Contarctor Ron Romanini has pleaded guilty to paying additional bribes to former Cuyahoga County Auditor Frank Russo.

Romanini, 60, pleaded guilty Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Akron to paying eight bribes of up to $3,000 to Russo.

Last year he pleaded guilty to bribing Russo with $15,000 in roofing work. Russo resigned Sept. 9 and pleaded guilty last year to taking more than $1 million in bribes from various people.

He has been sentenced to nearly 22 years in prison.

The Plain Dealer newspaper in Cleveland says the latest bribes admitted by Romanini were paid to Russo over a 12-year period to land government jobs for relatives and friends.
