CLEVELAND - The new county executive in Cleveland says county leaders are upset about some expensive amenities in the new $189 million juvenile justice center and that taxpayers have a right to be mad, too.

The Plain Dealer in Cleveland reports the new center in Cuyahoga County includes a $23,000 custom-designed conference table and a private gym for judges. County council members toured the facility Friday.

The members and county Executive Ed FitzGerald say they want to return some furnishings but don't know if they can.

The head of the company that designed the building praised it as being "beautiful on a budget."

Michael Thomas of South Carolina-based Justice Planning Associates says the building will last 75 years and he's not sorry for how it's designed and furnished.
