The sentences were handed out on the same day that former Cuyahoga County Auditor Frank Russo received nearly 22 years in prison.
Among those sentenced on Wednesday was Dinesh Bafna, 46, of Pepper Pike. Bafna received six months in prison, was fined $10,000 and was ordered to pay $5,839 in restitution. Bafna pleaded guilty to bribery charges and admitted to providing free home improvements to Russo in exchange for reduced property tax valuations on commercial real estate properties according to his plea.
Rocky Laurie, 52, of Mayfield Heights was sentenced to six months in prison and ordered to pay $42, 528.50 in restitution. Laurie, the former business manager for the Maple Heights City Schools pleaded guilty in July on one charge of not reporting a felony and one count of making false statements to the FBI. Laurie admitted to using school district accounts and credit cards for personal use.
The third person sentenced was Shannon Riley, 46, of Sagamore Hills. Riley was given one year and one day in prison and ordered to pay $65,502.50. Riley, the owner of Riley Industrial Services, previously pleaded guilty to one count of bribery concerning programs receiving federal funds. Riley admitted to paying kickbacks totaling $30,000 in order to receive contracts valued at more than $300,000.
