LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Police say a van carrying more than a dozen children from a day care has crashed into a tree in Kentucky, killing an adult and sending the children to the hospital.
Police spokeswoman Alicia Smiley says the van swerved for an unknown reason and wrecked in Louisville shortly after 5 p.m. EDT Tuesday.
Smiley says the van was carrying two adults and 13 children ages who ranged in age from around 3 to around 10.
The adults were taken to a hospital, where one was pronounced dead.
The names haven't been released.
Kosair Children's Hospital chief nursing officer Cis Gruebbel says 14 children were brought there and were still being assessed.
