AKRON -- At the request of Channel 3 News, a federal judge has ordered the release of wire-tapped phone calls from the trial of former Cuyahoga County Judge Bridget McCafferty.
A federal jury convicted the former judge last Friday on 10 counts of lying to the FBI. The case is part of the ongoing Cuyahoga County corruption investigation.
The wiretaps recorded phone conversations between former Cuyahoga County Auditor Frank Russo, Former Cuyahoga County Commissioner Jimmy Dimora, former construction company executive Steve Pumper and McCafferty.
The tapes show the relationship McCafferty had with all three and how she discussed civil cases in her courtroom with Russo, Dimora and Pumper.
In McCafferty's trial, Russo testified that he would call the former judge four times a year to discuss cases.
