CLEVELAND -- Hundreds of people in Cuyahoga County took part in 'National Prescription Take Back Day.'

Over one ton of unused and expired prescription drugs were collected at local police departments.

New to this year's event was the launch of Cuyahoga County's Drug Drop Box program.

In addition to safely disposing medications, drug drop boxes lower the chances of intentional and unintentional prescription drug abuse.

The DEA says today's program was created to protect your home and loved ones as well.
